1952 8n rear seal

Is the rear main seal in a 1952 8n 2 piece or does it go around the crank on back of engine Thanks lee

Lee........while the flathead V-8 boys found a 1-piece neoprine seal for the front of the V-8 that also fits our beloved 4-cyl flathead tractor engine, the rear engine seal is still 2-piece rope. Soak in hot oil fer at least 4-hrs. (NO, don't use yer kitchen stove, SHMBO don't like that) Surprizingly enuff, either color for top-or-bottom slots. I use a BIG socket to POUND the rope into the groove. Trim the end "proud" 1/16" and bolt the oilpan and gasket in place. I put a couple of sploches of chassis grease on the oilpan to keep the gasket inplace as I bolt the pan home. NO TIGHTEN the pan bolts too much as it will WARP the lips and cause leaks. ......just tite-enuff Dell
