M/S 241 rebuild problems

Hi, All,

I am rebuilding an ms 241 for my jubilee. Sadly, I could NOT find the main jet nor the economizer jet as hard as I looked, so after disassembly I left it in a jug of NAPA cab cleaner for about 2 weeks. I rinsed it in water and blew it dry. Despite corrective lenses and a high power flashlight, I *still* can find no trace of the main or economizer jets.

I rebuilt a tsx-33 recently, so I thought I knew what i was doing, fishing for the jets.

I ground a screwdriver down to the diameter of the main jet hole and hollow-ground the blade, pushed it down the main jet hole, pushed hard, and turned- I got pot metal shavings, no brass, and then I stopped.

Economizer jet is still totally plugged, and then some- when I fish with a screwdriver, I get rust.

for lack of a better question, short of shipping the whole thing to Montana, what do I do now?

I cannot imagine the carb cleaner ate away the jets.

Its hard to imagine there wasn;t a main jet in there, but you never know, I guess.

Where can I find new jets? they weren't in the rebuild kit.

thanks in advance.

Bill

Hi, JMOR, - yes that was a typo. or maybe a braino.
Its a 428. I apologize for the error. Any ideas on
teh jet?

When I look down the orifice where the main nozzle
was and down out thru the plug on the bottom....

the smallest ID is huge compared to a jet - its
like 3/32.

have been inside 33, 341, 580, but not 428, so I can't be sure on 428, but you should e-mail Gary. I have seen other M/S carbs where jet is incorporated into the nozzle.....not saying your is like that, however. I can see how the 33/241 carbs could run without a main jet, since the Main Power Adjust is in simple series with the main jet....not sure it would run "right" but run. I'll send you Gary's e-mail in an e-mail to you.

JMOR;
You are correct amundo!!!! TSX428 & TSX580 only have one jet and it is the idle jet.
Just talked with William, over the phone, and he now has this info.!!! SO he can continue with his JUBE carb overhaul!!!

ood deal! Thought it might be like 580 in that regard, but I don't say so, unless I KNOW, so that's why I sent him to you...knew you had been there.

Hi, all:

thank you for the help!

Does the 428 even have economizer passages? The
body certainly has a hole where the economizer jet
would have been, but I don;t see the orifices in
the 'neck' above the venturei.

thanks!
