I have a 1941 9n. What would have been the original carburetor; TSX 241 or TSX 33. Which of these two carbs was known as the smoother running? thanks Marc

according TO4 my 43 2n came with TSX 33 however currently running TSX 241 as that what came when I bought it

I think the original would have been the 33.
The smoothest running would be one that GB in MT has blessed! :)

Marc;
Those ??'s are a very loaded, subject, but, after I have spent approx. 4 1/2 yrs of overhauling the Marvel/Schebler TSX carbs.....AFAIC see....there is NO 'ROCK, SOLID', answer!!!!
Any one, of the M/S TSX carbs, properly, cleaned, and overhauled, then set up to your engine........ can be used on ANY of the "N" series tractor engines, for GOOD results!!!
Not gonna write a book here, SOOOoooooo........
Here are two sheets for you to read, that MAY/May NOT, answer your ??'s....:

BTW.....: There was also another TSX carb that was produced, by M/S,.....The M/S TSX 241C......NOT LISTED...in these sheets/bulletins, due to the fact it was only used for about 1/2 yr. of production, and was found NOT to be a good operational carb.,......then Ford returned to the TSX 241B for use on the "N" series tractors!!! This is why the TSX 241C, is NOT listed in these bulletins!!
I have, personally, only worked on/seen, two of the TSX241C's, come across my work bench, and those after re-jetting and overhauled, seemed to work good, but NOT, very operational, as far as power to the engine.

JMHO.....The TSX241B, is the easiest carb to work on, and the BEST of all the M/S TSX carbs, used on the "N" series Ford Tractors.

I have a 33 on my 8N and a 241A on the 9N after a rebuild of both (with Gary's good help!). I needed to keep one of them running so did the 241 first and put it on the 9N while I rebuilt the 33. Never did switch them back, both seem to run just fine after fine tuning. Made a big difference on the smooth running of both and the 9N no longer suddenly quits.
