Throwout Bearing Springs

These springs on my 641 Ford have a long end hook and a short end hook. It looks like the long end should hook onto the transmission holes and the short end onto the bearing holder ears.
The hooks on both ends could be threaded through the holes two different ways also. The hook could just enter the holes from the sides opposite the spring body or the hook could be fed through the hole on the side next to the spring first.
I think the springs will work either way but I would like them to be assembled as designed. Does anybody know the proper way?

don't know how proper it is, but here is a pic of
the springs on some rusty junk I saved.

Wayne, On mine its just the opposite. Just looked at the New Holland web site and they also show the long end of the spring toward the front of the tractor.
