cotter pins

That cotter pin's function is to wiggle around in the drain hole to keep it open. If your engine's rear seal, or the tranny's front seal leaks, the oil can drain out of the bell housing.
 
Don't count on it though. From time to time, wiggle them around in circles in case theres a build up of crud at the hole so it will drain. Mine stopped up and fludded the clutch. Now my clutch is stuck to the flywheel.

pullthe starter and sacrifice a couple cans of brke cleaner into the open area and the clutch.. leave clutch blocked whle doing so.. should help some.
