the control valve sepereted from the t handle--cotter pin came out?--all parts of control valve missing in bottom of pump--cotter pin-spring,control valve. The t handle still attached to the fork... Is it a problem for the missing parts to remain loose somewhere internally??

No they will be fine keeping company with the old starter bending parts.
You could try fishing them out with one of those flexible magnets or reach down their and get your arm stuck in tractor like I did a few months ago trying to get the Clevis pin for the hydraulic linkage.
FYI if you do that coat your forearm with the mineral oil to get it unstuck LOL

He is talking about the hydraulic chamber, not the bellhousing. I think I would drop the pump (remember to drain the oil and remove the PTO shaft. Then I would clean out the sump as well as retrieve the broken hardware Might be able to fish them out with a magnet if you don't want to drop the pump.

Did you accomplish getting out your clevis pin? I dropped an almost new starter drive in my bell housing, when I try a magnet , it sticks to everything before it reaches the bottom. If it was an electromagnet it might work, I wouldn't try my arm though, how do you get to the mineral oil if your arm gets stuck?
