Minneapolis Molene 225

I have liked the looks of the 335, and 445 tractors when they first came out.
I have often wondered, if they would have built a 225 tractor in the two plow class it would be neat.
What is the thought of you all?

Nothing that small but they did make a 555. Was changed to 5 Star to begin constellation series. Massey already had a 555 in same year so that is why MM changed.

I don't think they ever made a 555. They did do a 550 though. I have a parts book somewhere for it and it has a picture of it on the front. You are right, it was what became the 5 Star.

I was looking at the Jensen photos a while back and I think they had a 5 Star factory picture with low platforms like the 445s were....Im glad they raised them. I have a parts book on the 550 as well.

I would have liked to see one above the 5 Star in that styling. I think that might have helped sales to have a 70 to 80 hp row crop at that time.

The Moline was going to be a 550, but was later changed to the 5 star. Oliver had a 550, and Farmall or IH may have had a 550 also.

In comparing the 5 star and 550 parts manuals, the only difference I noticed was the decal. I need to find that decal. I have an lp 5 star with serial #7, and 283-E engine with serial #2, I wonder if this might have been a 550. Has anyone ever seen a 550 serial tag?

Cockshutt had 550 in 1958 which was not the same as Oliver 550. Must have been why MM changed to 5 Star.

Did you see my PGR Article last issue. I have discovered reference to a model 665. I believe that is what was released as the Gvi. While the Gvi tin looked neat, imagine what it would have looked like styled like a 5-Star! Had they made a 225, it would have been a replacement for the BF Avery's, too bad MM had already deemed not enough demand to continue making.
