mm u white smoke

i have a u that idles fine gives out the odd puff of white smoke then if it runs full throttle its fine when you throttle back all that comes out of the exhaust is white smoke is it a head gasket or something else

i would say u have one of two problems anti-freeze in the engine oil, or more then likely u have a rod or main bearing going bad. From what u decribe i would drop the oil pan and clean it and start checking bearings. Good luck

don't know how bad it bugs you but if you use it alot and never have to add anti-freeze i'd leave er be, i have a 37 Oliver Hart-Parr 70 that sat probly 8 years as well and got it running and it smokes blue/black/white like no other. so i just use it to keep the mosquito population down. hehe

White smoke is anti-freeze in the cylinder for sure especially if it's gas model. You could have one of few different problems a cracked head, cracked cylinder block or a bad and leaky head gasket. Just cause you idle it fast and it goes away doesn't mean it not doing it still. Antifreeze is no good in the wrong places and it is washing the cylinder walls down and before you know it your going to be doing a ring and bearing job on it. Plus looking for the broken part if it is something cracked.
