Jetstar with no oil pressure

Put the jetstar motor back together today. It started right up but have no oil pressure and no oil to the top side. Hade 10 psi before we took it apart and now we have nothing. We hade the heads redone and put new rod bearing in. There was a rod in the oil tube to the top end could that have something to do with it? Any other ideas? never pulled the side cover off yet, that is the next step.

How did you put rod bearings in it with out pulling the side cover off? Check your oil pump. Maybe worn, key sheared off or improper clearnaces. That tube acts as a restrictor and should be in there

seams odd we had 10 psi before we took it apart. And we did take the side cover off to put it back together! lol!!!

Rusty, have you tried to "adjust" the oil pressure? I believe that there is a screw on the driver's side of the oil filter base for that purpose. Turn it in a few turns and see if has an effect. Also beware of malfunction of the oil pressure gauge.

The neat thing about this motor you can run it with the side cover off! Can see if you have any oil pressure. It will really leak out of a worn bearing. Do all of the above stuff first. Don't forget to check the pickup screen. You did mop out the sump? I have found the center main is probably leaking your oil pressure. Plastic-gauge it. They usted to make 2.5 thousandths thicker bearings.
