straw walker blocks

I would like to kmow what other have done when the crank is worn and new blocks won't tight up cranks. It's a white 7300 combine.

Are they maple blocks? On a JD 45 they had spacers to take out to adjust. try Miking the shaft and then cutting that amount off the face of one half. Not perfectly round that way.
To get perfectly round would have to shave more off face and rebore to worn crank throw size.

So just cutting half of the blocks will work? Thought about cutting both blocks but seemed you would have an egg shape hole. Yes malpe blocks

bought a set from agco for my 750 massey that they had on the shelf ,, pricey ,, son Michael looked them over and made me an entire set out of seasoned white oak, he loves tinkering in wood... after 2 seasons ,they are holding up fine ,, but .. they should be hard maple

I have found this thread INTERESTING, because, in my experience, the "throws" on the walker cranks wear terribly "out of round", and, even if you modify the wood blocks to have smaller holes, just the "high sides" of the "egg-shaped" crank throw will contact the blocks, leaving a lot of "play" 90º from there and allowing the walker bearings/shaft to hammer, knock, and ultimately crack and break the walkers.

Years back, I had that happen twice, once with a high-houred 503 IH and then with a used and abused 7700 DEERE. Wound up replacing the cranks, and a couple of walkers in both.

IMHO, this might work if this is a machine used for "play" but if you are going to use it and work it and put some hours on it, new, or good used cranks are the only "fix".

Good luck!
