I bet you have never seen an 850 Massey like this!

My buddy that owns the local recycle yard called me today to see if I needed the tires off of this Massey that came in for scrap. When I got over there this is what I walked up to.It was rigged up to cut grass for seed with a small cutterbar and a J.D. wobble box driving it.I almost couldnt pay attention to the tires because I kept looking at this contraption on the front.I have ALWAYS rigged up whatever I needed to get the job done but I think this is just a little bit too much.Somebody PLEASE tell me this wasn't a factory option!

your right Haley, i don't think it was a factory option lol...

before i moved here, i used to work to a guy in the old country (England), he had a NH 8070 (newer version of a 1500) that he used for grass seeds, mainly rye grass, we used to have to use a broom handle to get the seed out of the hopper, it would bridge in there something fierce... ah the good old days...

Had to study that a while, yea, the big fan sucked up from the head, through the fan, blew into the cone, and heads dropped down into the combine throat. Sure looks like it didn't feed the cyclinder evenly, but perhaps the volume was pretty low...

The little fan on the side blew into the tubes for an air header, to blow the grass into the cutter bar.

My take on it?

That is some work on there! Glad to see the pics.
