Adding a proofmeter?

I have an 820 that I'd like to add a proof meter to. It has 3 pt lift and PTO can it be done if I get the cable and the meter?

You will also need the tach drive on the end of the
hydraulic pump, if it isn't there now. But yes, you
can add a tach.

I have an IH C and a John Deere lawn mower that didn't come with an hour meter. I simply wired in a cheap 12v hour meter. I feel an hour meter is needed for oil changes.

You can buy an after market digital tach/hour meter that picks up spark plug pulses. Don't get one that has an internal battery. Mine didn't last very long, battery problem. The battery was soldered in.

These are cheap options you may consider if you can't get a proofmeter to work.

The boys on Tractor talk were discussing converting a massey TO 35 to 12v alternator. The tach cable connected to the end of the genny. Someone mentioned that some models of alternators also have an attachment for tach. Something to check in to. I'm sure pulley size come in to play too.
TO 35

(quoted from post at 09:47:00 02/24/14) Do you know where the tach drive can be gotten? I have a 631 I want to do the same thing to
No I checked the parts catalog and called Yesterdays tractor for the part but no luck yet. Hopefully someone will chime in as to where to find one

Would a tach drive from any of the N, 8N, 9N, Jubilee work? Or does it have to be a 172 cu in engine? And yes that would be a good place to look if I had some lying around.

Only the side-mount 8N could have a tach...and I'm
not sure if any of the parts would work. But the
tach drive from any '53 to '64 Ford (except the
6000) should work.
