beans not shedding leaves

i've noticed several fields around here that had places that didn't shed there leaves even after a couple of frost, looked like the ones do near a night light ,several had said the pods didn't fill out good either,i first suspected variety related but we had a small field that done it that was the same variety as the rest ,it was separated by a drive only, they weren't sprayed with any fungicide or insecticide, what could be the cause

Weather screwed things up this year. Beans that were suffering from the dry really perked up after a rain and would not dry properly. Green stalks with green leaves and beans were popping out of pods. Beans that did not suffer matured properly.

I had the same problem this year in ohio, had an expert come out and look at them, I was told it was not green stem sydrome but it is called stay green mutation. It is brought on by the drought and is all about timing of the bloom and pod development. He said the plant does not have enough pods to take the energy that the plant has stored, therefore the plant resist to die because of the stored energy. Not sure if he is correct but I had a tough time running these beans. Same thing two hits of frost and I sprayed them, suckers would have lived through the winter. good luck!

we've had ample rain this year,i cut one small field that was effected today had a lot of empty pods leaves and stalks have dried but the leaves hadn't dropped, yield was less than a 1/4 of the adjacent field of the same variety planted the same day.

did you have much insect pressure, stink bugs are also causing a serious problems in beans per the local co-op

could possibly be contributed to stink bug damage as they were full of faulty pods,i cut another field that was planted in 2 varieties 4 rows each, one variety had very little while the other was bad all the way across the field ,i took a picture of the difference i'll try to post it if i can get on the computer
