9700 Fan Idler pulley

Put a new alternator on the 9700 this morning and about an hour later, a belt started squealing and smoking so thought what went wrong now. Turned out this time the fan idler pulley locked up. Does anyone know a aftermarket parts company that might sell idlers for this tractor? I checked ebay and none on there. I don't have it off the tractor, but do you have to buy the idler and bracket as one part or does the idler pulley come off the bracket? Thanks Larry

Mine went a couple of years ago.I bought a bearing from nh and the guy that pressed it off broke it ,he said some will and some wont!! Dont know where he got the replacement at.

Last one I changed was an assembly. I forget what it cost... but it doesn't strike me as having been too bad..

Check out the New Holland parts page here:

It shows 2 slightly different idler pulley setups in the picture, but it looks like the the part numbers have been superseded over time so that they're the same part numbers now.

The pulley by itself is part number 83958792 and the bearing is part number 83929142. Or you can get the entire bracket assembly with the pulley and everything else already on it as part number 83986807.

Good news is that they are all showing as in stock at partspring.com, so you should be able to get them at any New Holland dealer as well. The pulley by itself is $32.50 and the bearing is $54.83, while the entire bracket and pulley assembly is a whopping $225.01 (why the 1 cent???)
