420 backhoe transmission problem

My cousin has a ford 420 backhoe and his transmission is acting up. It was working, but now it will not move forward or go on reverse at all.

I have worked on my collection of 8 and 9 Ns and my 800s, but I have never worked on these type of tractors.

Any ideas on where to start checking???

Do you know which transmission it has? It could have the 4x4 auto reverser or the 6x4 manual reverser or the regular 8 speed manual.

I don't know if it is 4x4 or 4x6, etc. He did say it only had 4 gears.

But will try to get more info. Thanks. David
