Installing new rings, pistons, and sleeves in a 1949 8N. There"s a red dot of paint up inside the new piston - does that indicate the direction for installation?

Usually a notch on the top of the piston. Notch goes toward radiator.

Red dot inside may mean some operation was completed?? or pin fit? Or?

OK - the notch is on the same side as the red paint - maybe so we can orient it correctly from underneath? Thank you.
