I need to change the lubricant in my 4 speed transmission. The shop manual calls for M4864A or M2C85A as the lubricant. I know they have been replaced by Universal Hydraulic Oil - 134D. Is there any difference in Universal Hydraulic Oil and Universal Hydraulic Fluid? Can I use Universal Hydraulic [u:2d093454d7]Fluid [/u:2d093454d7]in the transmission and rear-end? Tks.

any difference in universal hyd 'oil' and universal hyd 'fluid'

um.. spelling.. :)

if they meet the m2c134 spec you are fine.

trans.. diffy/hyds.. etc.. ( power steering.. final drives.. etc. )

You did not say if you had a {power shuttle} trans/ torque convertor 4 speed trans. Std clutch machine takes a 85/ 140 trans oil and the torque trans takes a good trans hyd oil. The easy way to see what type oil is in the trans. Smell it if it smells bad it is the thick weight oil. The other is thin oil

The transmission is a 4-speed manual. I'll be putting in UTF soon. My power steering works fine now that I replaced the filter and fluid. Back to moving snow!! Thanks to all for the good info.
