4000 fuel tank gas line

I just picked up a ford 4000 rough terrain
pallet fuel tank from over a 172 engine.
I noticed that the petcock is different from
an 801 tank and the petcock lines up with
a straight shot down to the carb filter?
Will this tank work for my 821. I like the straight
shot flex line.

It sounds just like the line on my 901 which is how they were built. The 800 through the 4 cyl. 4000 were known to get hot and boil gas in the tank when working hard in hot weather. E-85 has a lower boiling point, so the proximity of the line to the exhaust manifold should be a consideration for you, if you are planning to work the tractor hard. I secured some tinfoil around mine to shield from the heat. If you are planning to pick-up a new original tube you may be in for a little shock. I recently cut the deteriorated rubber section out of mine and replaced it with high heat silicone rubber tubing. Many on this forum replace the original with 5/16 brake line.
