Rocker arms

I have what may be a stupid question will a rocker arm asembely off a 172 Diesel fit and work on a 172 Gas motor?

Individual pieces? No. The whole assembly? Maybe... The pedistals have the same part numbers, but the shaft and rocker arms have different p/n's. So if the length is right (should be), it might be worth trying. But I'd think it should be easy enough to find new or used parts for the gasser. Somewhat less so for the diesel - some parts (the rocker shaft, for example) are listed as NLS from New Holland.

I have a 172 Diesel that has low hours but got water down the pipe and is stuck but the rockers look really clean thats why I was asking.
