Just curious: saw a 9N in the local paper for $1200. Obviously depends on condition, but is that in the ballpark?

Busch Light, in the bottle!

Ya reckon it'll be hot down there??

I live in the No. Virginia suburbs and just bought a 1950 8n w/bushog for $1650.00. It needs 2 frt tires, a tune up and the rt rear axle seal's leaking and I'm sure the brake shoes are soaked, but, it starts easy, doesn't smoke and there are no strange noises coming from eng. It shifts easy and goes down the road straight. I think that I was extremely lucky as most of the prices I was seeing were in the 2-3,000.00 range. Yours could be an ok deal ?

rule of thumb is-do not pay any more for something than what you can sell it for regardless of it's value. Two things- the price sounds O.K., the 8 & 9 N's are about the cheapest to fix up. Cheap is-you can drop $900 in the motor fast plus exterior engine componits, $350 in the trans (for bearings and labor only) $240 for a new radiator, $130 for a new governer, $180 for a new carb, $350 for a new gas tank, maybe $1500 when you start messing with the rear-end the hydrallics and the 3-point lift, plus all the other little things that you will encounter plus your labor plus $450 for rear tires and $150 for frount tires plus maybe new rims and what ever cosmetic problems you might have. I think that I got my point across.

I posted a few days back about a 9n in VERY poor condition that sold for $1900. Last year I bought a 9n for $1300, put just over $500 in it, and now have a very good little working tractor. $1200 doesn't sound too bad unless it is in really sad shape.

thats what I paid for mine ,,, yeah it was not in parade condition but the price was fair ,, depends on if it is a basket case or worth workin on,,, my opinion is anything you buy used is gonna need a lil tlc just depends on how much you want to give... i'd say if the motor is good and has decent rubber and skin its a good deal. pat ps this price is in upstate ny.

I paid $1300 for mine, and it needed to have new rear axle seals, and the motor smoked quite a bit. Tin was fair. Lift worked good. Comparing prices, I still think I got a pretty good deal.

If this is a 9N in good running condition and in good physical shape, this is a great price. Could have problems though with the $1200 ticket on it.
