Blocking a clutch

I posted below about the solenoid (possibly? Will see this weekend), and was advised to block the clutch whilst performing the checks to determine the problem.
How exactly do you guys "Block" the clutch? A ratcheting tie-down around the whole footrest? Maybe an old coat hanger straightened and fed around the petal and through the holes in the footrest?

Just curious...

Tommy.......BLOCK of WOOD, ennythang to keep the clutch pedal DOWN. Does NOT hurt the clutch spring or the pressure plate which is what gitts STUCK to the clutch plate. .......springy Dell

a firing strip or siilar piece of wood can be used to wedge the pedal when pushed down.

no rocket science involved... push pedal.. you can figure it out...

A heavy cement block and a piece of baler twine tied to it so it can not fall off works fine and most people have those just laying around. One of my 8Ns has one sitting on it right now and it has been there for over 6 months
