hi/low beam light help

i have original headlights for my uk 3000 but have a problem. With the lights off the tractor and the bulb removed from the case (bypassing wiring and switches) I can only get the high beams to work. Nothing for the low beam on either light. Just curious if I'm missing something....

It seems pretty straight forward, the low beam is blown, but it seems strange that both lights would have the low beams blown, especially since I can look in the bulb at the "coil" wire piece and it is attached at both ends and not broken.

They probably are blown but wanted to ask here first...to make sure im not missing anything.

Thanks!

Dell - I know that the European spec Fords had a number of things different than the US versions, like the hand lever parking brake and extra marker lights, so I started thinking that maybe they had high/low beam headlights too. I just went and looked, and sure enough the parts web site shows the European version uses a 3 prong sealed beam bulb.

smokedoff - I'm thinking that maybe you have the prongs confused and you're thinking the wrong one is ground. Have you tried all possible combinations of prongs? Try it with an ohm meter as well instead of just applying voltage to them.

Sean, before I tested it at the buld itself, I tested by just applying voltage and ground to the existing wires....and my lights still have original colored tracer hot wires that match the ones on the diagram.

I will double check again though and ill check with an ohm meter...didnt think of that.

Thanks!
