7710 front planetary disassembly???

I am replacing the MFWD axle housing on a 7710 that has king pin/pivot damage. I took the planetaries off whole when tearing down. I have the replacement center housing in place and have been rebuiling everything on the way back together. I have the tapered bolts out ot the planetary cover and the center cover off. What else holds the planetary together? It is really tight and snaps back together if you drive a gasket scraper down the crack. Never been here before but something really acts like it is still attached holding this together. The whole setup is pretty simple but I sure dont know what I am missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Depends on the axle.... but if you got two tapered head screws out then it ~should~ come apart. Might try giving the carrier itself a smack towards it's outer perimiter. A light crack with a maul. There's also an o-ring on the carrier that might have some grip... but it should still slide off. Otherwise you've got problems inside.
What was wrong with the axle that it couldn't be repaired? Usually king pines are a simple bearing and cup replacement....
Hate to use up the few good housings that are around if it's not absolutely necessary...

If it's a Carraro axle, two of the wheel lug nut mounting studs also need to come out. Take a close look at them and you"ll figure out which ones - they are 180 degrees apart.

If it's a ZF axle, the hubs should slide right off after removing the two set screws.
