Another Plow ID Needed

I picked up this plow. I think it's an 810 2-14. Details of year and tractor to use it with would be helpful. I hope the pics show.

Any ID help is welcome.

It's to old to be an 810 series plow ; because it has original "1953" (no round hole in trip for it stalling grease zerk ) trip...It has link at bottom of mast for sway chains used with JD 800 hitch. But missing gauge wheel needed with 800 hitch... Looks to be in all "Original" very good cond...... Guessing it was bought new with a 53 model "50".......... PC-390 parts cat.

Sure not a JD epxert, but it looks just like my 812 2-14. The manual I have is OM-A50-1054. A fine, fine piece of machinery.

I think it's an 812 plow with a newer tail wheel. The length of the frame sticking out that the front coulter is mounted on is a give away. That part of the frame will hit the remote valve box if you try to run this plow on a 20-30 sieries tractor. The tail wheel assembly has been upgraded, probably because that style of landside will strike and break the original tail wheel brackets when the rear bottom trips. The thinner metal brace that tappers to the rear on the land side of the frame was only used on early 812's. The gauge wheel would have mounted at the front of this brace. This plow was made for the 800 hitch used on a 50 or a 60.

Believe it is an #810 as the tail axle goes EIGHT to LEFT

It's a model 812 (probably about 1953 vintage and one of the first of this type of plow made). The rear wheel is not original (it is JD but wasn't used with this axle assembly) as it would have had an 8" wheel bolted together with two rim halves.

The early type trip assemblies were good only for the first 6 months of use because no farmer ever maintained them like they should have (lubricate all pivot points on the trip with oil every 4-8 hrs of use...never happened).

The bottoms and coulters look really nice. Mismatched landsides (front is newer, rear is original type for the vintage). The plow will probably not work with that rear wheel (I've never tried adjusting that type axle assembly with the large rear wheel) as I don't think it has enough adjustment.

If the rear axle can be ajusted to work the first time the rear bottom would trip the landside would wedge itself against the rear wheel and may cause damage.

Overall a nice plow to parade, but the rear axle may need the correct wheel to make it a real user plow.

Randy : this is Z style axel [tail wheel mount] you have ; with 8" tire you should have ; A plow that nice should be original....
