4040 ac compressor

My 4040 is still cooling good, but the compressor makes a loud noise when engaged. The tractor is still on R-12. I wish to keep it on R-12 as I have a good supply of it. Is my best option to get a compressor from Deere? I know I need to change the dryer when I do the job. Is there anything else?

DEERE uses NOTHING both R134 and the oil in their compressors now will NOT be compatible with R12.

Four Seasons, or similar quality aftermarket rebuilt compressors ARE available for that application from an auto parts store IF they know where to look and/or have paper catalogs.

Verify that there is NO PAG oil in it, then add the appropriate amount of old fashioned R12-compatible MINERAL oil.

I'd try techchoice.com ? This should be the right site ? they handle A/C parts. You may even be able to put the old Deere part number in and search for it.

I think Deere's compressors are rebuilds. Most aftermarket wholesalers offer compressors with oils for for either refrigerant. If you can't find one for R12 you could flush it and reinstall mineral oil.
There is a Denso A6 compressor replacement that is cheaper than the Delco A6. Bolts right on w/o extra hardware or fittings.
