I bought a 1944 VAC last night for parts. Aren't they a rare tractor because of the year? It too bad this has been in the harsh new england winters, uncovered for over 20 years. No exaust pipe...Still has a bunch of parts I can use for my '46' VA. It even has some kind of funky manual 3pt hitch/ two levers to work it by.Still need a piece of side sheemetal. ( the one w/out the little door) Have a good holiday everyone....

I purchased a 1944 VAC in 9/03 it had been stored inside for the last 10 yrs. Was repainted about 2 yrs. before that. With new battery, spark plugs & wires, points & condenser runs like a top. It came with mounted 2 bottom plow & cultivators. The mounting is like yours, its complete with hyd. clyinder lift. It came with all the factory orginal manuals for tractor & equipment.

Now Arthur, why didn't you buy a '44 SC for parts and then I could get a piston, sleeve, manifold, seat and who knows what else from you?

Arthur,
Does it have a lever on each side of the seat with a hitch point on each side the draw bar. One lever will raise one side up and down while the other will raise both sides up and down. If so you probably have the vcmb plow mounting. One of these levers was the "draft controll" while the other was a level adjustment for the plow.

Wish you were closer. I'd be interested in the mount if it is complete. Someone made copies of a manuel for one of these plows which shows you this. Look up vcmb manuel in this forum and see if it comes up. Dad had one for years but finding it would be like a needle in a ..... .. well, you knpw.
Have fun.

Hi Wheat Straw... I realy haven't given it a real good going over yet, but it looks like the leavers both operate the hitch up and down, I can't tell if there is any kind of draft control. One of the levers goes in back of the rear axle, and one of them goes in front...I'll have to take a look at the pictures, and see if mine is like that one. The only impliment that comes with it is a cordwood saw....

If it has the serial plate it would be a good idea to register it.....that way another '43 is accounted for. :-)

43 was the year they only made 988 VACs. WW2 was blamed for that. in 1944 they made 4,834 VACs.

the manual hitch is from a cultivator set like a VCB2 or similar.

seems like a shame that its gonna get parted out because its missing a side pannel but if its as bad as you think (being exposed to winters, etc.) then use what you can and hold on to what you cant. someone somewhere wants parts too.

good luck!

mike
