47A-Testing Oil Gauge

(quoted from post at 20:33:03 04/19/13) Is there way to check the oil gauge before I attempt to fire up this old beast?
I can crank my hand crank start A and B with the spark plugs disconnected and they will show oil pressure before they start. You can take the plugs out to make it easier. Of course it's even easier on the electric start models.

Screw it into an air chuck and let a spare tire down to 15 psi, then put the gauge with air chuck on it and note where 15 psi registers.

Priming the engine before starting is a nice touch but defeats the purpose of assembly lube and if you used some you should be fine without priming.
