I have been looking for a 59 snowblower for the front of 709 4x4. The main problem I have had is that none of the ones that I have come across have the mount for a 790. And that mount is very very tough to find and can't be had from deere. The other day I found the mount and bought it. Got it today. The bearings were toast and the fellow who sold it was good enough to include new bearings. Problem is that I don't know how this thing should come apart. I know how I think it should but I do not want to start pounding on it till I have some input from you guys.

In the pic you can see a pair of collars on the shaft inside the holder body. Neither set screw can be budged. One collar is set the other which is up against it is free to slide up and down the shaft with its set screw frozen as well. What is the most likely way to successfully get those set screws to move? And how would you go about getting this bugger apart. I have plenty of tools but am not machine shop capable. Looks to me like the bearings sit inside of the two gold sandwich holders. Not sure if the bearing inner is heat welded onto the shaft from bad bearings.

gettin a 413 request entity too large. Will try to figure this out and post the pics

BTW I bought the mount as I have been considering a 59 for several years. I do not have the blower but at least when one becomes available will be able to know that I can buy it and mount up.

Use a dremel with cutoff wheel and destroy outer races. Cut race top and bottom and carefully use a chisel in cut to split the race. Repeat on other end if necessary (may slide out if one is gone).

FYI: the gold sandwich things you referred to are called flangettes. Living in Texas I know nothing about a snow blower. What does that shaft do? What is the brg part #?

The second set of photos made things much more understandable. Those set screws need to be loosen(will probably require heat) and then the eccentric locking collars have to be knocked around shaft to loosen the brgs.

I'd take a brazing tip and heat those screws let cool...heat again let cool and use proper size allen and I bet they will come out.

See my note at the bottom. Once one outer race is gone, the balls will fall out and entire shaft can be slid out the other end. Then you can fuss with the locking collars.
