I have a 1945 John Deere hand start model A. Thinking about replacing the point/condenser set. Do I need the kit for a Wico "C" or "X" magneto. Just had the carburetor rebuilt and it starts fairly easy (still trying to find the sweet spot with the choke). Seems to need some choking even after it starts. Why is this? The flywheel is timed (installed)correctly. I guess what I really need is advice as to how to get it to run smooth at low idle and high speed. I particularily want to get it to where it will just sit there and cluck away at low idle. It will seldom ever get run at high speed. How do you know if your throttle lever is set correctly?
