48 model A gas

Does anyone know how many 48 A gas were made that year?Did they come out with shutters or did the factory leave them off? I bought one yesterday and it dont have shutters or the rod. It has the lever on the steering support.I dont know if some one took them off of didnt come out with them. Thanks.

No alot of times they rusted up and gave people problems so they took them off. but they all came with them on. Its hard to find a good set of shutters. I am restoring a 48 A right now and was lucky enough to find a NOS set. got lucky only gave 50$ at an auction for them.

According to the production log there were 22561 gas A's, 1811 gas AN's, 1808 gas AW's.
They all had shutters.

I was wondering how many all fuel compared to strait gas were made.I was thinking there was more all fuel made than gas. Mine has one tank and a cold gas manifold on it.I knew all fuels would had shutters on them but i didnt know if the gas only had them.

48 A all-fuels were 5177 A's, 799 AN's, and 1188 AW's.
More gas than all-fuels by more than 3 to 1

Originally, they were removed because they made cleaning chaff out of the radiator a PITA....

If you don't keep the trash out of the lower radiator, it will rust and rot...
