i have a chance to buy a 730 LP tractor i already have a 520 LP that i use and show.... im looking for a little feed back from people that have one..... how big of a disc.bushhogetc will they pull do they burn more fuel than its worth??

My uncle had one that now belongs to my brother, and it was identical, from the pic, to the one you are looking at. His would pull a light four-row John Deere disc (which we still have), and our cotton rows were on 40 inch centers, so a little over 13 feet wide. We also used it with a Servis "pasture mower" that was about 8 feet wide, with no problems whatsoever. As far as fuel, the stories about excess fuel consumption are mostly scare tactics in my opinion. By the time you allow for the far cheaper-than-diesel-or-gas price of bulk propane, you'd be foolish to pass up that cherry-looking 730 l.p. Assuming it runs and the rear tires hold air, if it were mine I would ask 3500 for it and I wouldn't take less than 3000 unless I were extremely desparate. But I'm not the best person to ask because I don't own anything near that nice. I have a 70 L.P. that runs great but looks butt-ugly, and 70's don't command the kind of dollars that 730's do. But if you know him pretty well, just ask him what he thinks is a fair offer. If he turns you down, THEN call me and let me know where it is! Just kidding. Hugh
 
I have a 730LP and it is one of my work tractor, It has the high speed trans and the extra long axle's. I pull 4-14 in heavy soil in 2nd gear with no problem. I have 6 shank renovator behind it right now that I us in my costals fields and pull it about 10+ inches deep in 2nd. It is a darn good tractor. 60 gals in 10 hrs of hard work. 30 gals with a 13ft light disk in 4th gear.
15.5 on rear filled with water and two weight on rear wheels. could use more weight some times.
 
With bulk propane around here at 1.25/gal and diesel at 3.80/gal, its a no brainer what fuel to use right now.
