It could also have come from the factory with a single or wide front. Those had the split pedistal, too. It could be earlier, then.

I know the As and Bs from about 51 on had an extra 4 round holes in the rear wheel castings. This does not have that, or so it appears. I'm not sure if that was on Gs to, but I believe so. If that is the case, then this could be an earlier G that originally had a different front end, or was set up with that option in mind.

A serial number would help. It would be a long pull to WI, too.
 
I have a 1951 GW that is a split pedestal, I also just recently sold a split pedestal B. If it was close id be on the road tonight with a trailer but a little bit of a hike...
