49 B gas problem

The ol B sat while waiting for mag to be rebuilt. Ran fine before, got it hooked up,timed everything was a-ok. Noticed after running it for a good 10 minutes shutting it off and restarting, gas was pouring out of the manifold, and exhaust stack. What would cause this? Carb seems good and shut off valve is always turned off when not running. Stuck I am!

It MAY also be under the cap on the lever assembly. Have seen problems here them toss raw gas out the stack while running. Makes a mess quick. Plugs don't last long either.

Tried better descriptions but message editor would not allow it. Registered a name couple years back. That didn't work either. I post less and less rather than contend with it. Why this works yet mention of the forward plate on the B carburetor by it's common name won't, is too much for me. Hope you have better luck with the B than I with the editor.

Carb float is fine. Pulled plug from clutch side to see if it was getting spark and the darn thing popped off. not enough fuel and she died. put plug back in and nothing, just cranks and cranks and cranks. dumbfounded with this thing right now.

Check out your choke linkage. That carburetor has the spring loaded butterfly. It may not be turning the choke off.
