4440 Hydraulic Next Question

WTW, Tim and others thanks for the diagnosis/advice yesterday. I tried today to run a short hose from remote 1 outlet to inlet but it kept buzzing/hot. Are there any tricks of the trade to disable that remote, I don't need all 3. Any of you guys from West Central Indiana by any chance? I talked to the local dealer about rebuilding it but it wasn't sounding too cheap. Its much hotter than the others but not too hot to touch. If I just avoid that remote what are the potential effects of running it that way for another 100 hours?

Sir, If you could get ahold of/find a blank plate as used on many tractors that had/equipped with one SCV that blocked off the ports for the second SCV, you could simply remove the problem valve and plate over the mounting surface and you could contiue to run tractor with the two remaining valves. I used to have these plates in the dealerships to loan out to customers while I was repairing ther problem valve. They are pricey to buy new. Might be cheaper to fix your valve. If the valves wern't so heavy I would have you ship it to me (Eastern Iowa) and I could repair it.

I looked on the JD Parts 4440 but I didn't see the blank plate. What models came with 1 remote standard? I could call and see how much they are, but also it would be nice to know the part number could possibly find one used. I may go ahead and have the SCV rebuilt, still trying to figure out whats the best economical decision. Do you have any opinion on running it with the internal leak? I know its hard to say, but in your experience would something like that cause further damage if I put off fixing it until after next harvest? Thanks so much.

The remote is dead heading the pump. Somehow you need to remove the remote if you want to keep using the tractor. Can you unbolt it and run the in and out together? The remote and the linkage is causing the issue. It is probably a spring in the detent on the flow valve in the remote. It will cause many problems with the pressure plug that it is creating.

The number of remotes was an option. IIRC a new tractor could be ordered with no remotes.

If you want to remove that one SCV that you think is giving you a problem order #28 and cap it off.

Thanks so much guys. I'm borrowing a pressure gauge off my neighbor to verify and I talked with the local Parts man about the cover this morning.
