John Deere 40 Friction Disc Part II

So my 40 is still fighting me on the friction disc replacement. I got the front pin out that holds the retainer in on the hood side. However, the pin that holds the throttle lever on wont drive out for anything. Any ideas on how to get that thing out? Drilling it out has crossed my mind but I dont want to if I can avoid it.

Cut a piece of 2x4 and wedge between the lever and tranny so it won't bounce when you hit it with the pin punch. Make sure the end of the pin punch is flat so it won't spread the pin. If that doesn't work you'll need heat.

Drilled one out on a 420 yesterday. took about 15 minuites. replaced pin with a 5/32 roll pin. Not that bad!
