What is the best way to pull the block on this tractor? Remove front frame? take off fan shaft and lift out? Any suggestions from ones who have done this? and learned which way is best. Thanks

Start at the top and work your way in.I dont think you can get the frame off until the block is pulled on these.

On the 51 B i just tore down we started at the top worked down. Pulled Petcocks out fo bottom of the block. Then removed the 4 bolts for the frame and rolled it away... Still had radiator and oil cleaner on it.. Defentily a 2-3 man job. Then we pulled the block out and it came very easy... Just my .02$

Block will come out with frame and fanshafts all in place like all 2 cyls. do.

Pull cyl. head. then remove pistons, then remove block. There is only one way each piece will fit to come out or go back in. I&T book should explain as that's all I had on an A model. I think cyl. head with manifold still one it may go out up over the frame and the block I'm pretty sure goes out the bottom after being turned a special way. I remember darn near dropping mine ! It's heavy.

Everyone tried to tell me that I could pull the block out of my 52 A without much trouble. But after hours of struggling I found that I had to pull the radiator and just loosen the fan shaft bolts enough that it has some play to move out of the way to roll the block over the frame. Just have a friend help you, or make someone who's not a friend wrestle with it while you hold the fan shaft out of the way.

Hey 34gpa,
When I had my 49 A apart I remember struggling trying to get the block out. Everyone said it will come out the bottom but I couldn't get it out until I pulled out the head studs from the block. That's what worked for me. Good Luck.
