John Deere 40T tires sizes

Does anyone know what the most common combination of front and rear tires were for the John Deere 40t tractors. I have no idea what they are suppposed to be. I want the tractor to look original. Thanks

Researching through the JD parts book is the best way to know what originional is. The parts book is free on the JD web site.
The rear rims should be 10-34 with 11.2x34 tires . Good luck finding either. I've been looking for months for a set of rims.
To have the tractor sit level. 5:00-15 fronts work well. Go to Miller Tire and order a set of Firestone Guide Grip tires to be accurate.
The 40T does not show a pro cover in the parts book but the 420T lists one that fits perfect.
Repo fenders are available.

We had an MT, which was the same. IIRC the rears were 11.2/10x34 and the fronts were 6.00x16.

Miller Tire has the rear tires for $495 a tire I believe! I haven't been able to find them anywhere else so I still have my weather checked tires on my MT.

Thanks for the posts guys. I have the parts manual and operators manual, but it only states what was available and doesn't say what was standard. So does everyone agree that 11.2x34 on the rear and 5.00-15 on the front is the way to go.
Thanks

The 6:00-16 tire was used on MT and 40T tractors that were equipped with a manure loader for load carrying capacity. However, they were used with a spacer on the pedestal for clearance. Standard size front tire on both tractors was 5:00-15. Mike

(quoted from post at 12:24:06 10/11/12) Thanks mike. Do you know what was standard on the rear. 34" or 28". Thanks again.

On a "T" tractor "34s were standard, on a "S", "W", "U" the 28s would be standard.

I have the 5-15 on the front of mine and the 11.2x34 on the rears. It sits nice and level and rides/looks nice.

You don't want 6:00-16's on the front and 13.6x28's on the back. The tractor will be working harder as it's always driving up hill and burn more fuel.

Brady, I am relying on memory, but I don't believe 28" tires were offered until the 420's came out. I think 34" tires were the only rear size offered for the 40T's. Mike
