Got this 70 in that was stuck, hoped it was varnish but turned out to be caused by water from gas tank. tried transmission fluid and acetone no luck. Had I might as well pull the block and have the piston pressed out or try some other solution. From looking at the carb and manifold there is a lot of rust.Tractor had no sediment bowl, or auto shutoff. Russ

This maybe a long shot but worth a try any how. Jack the front wheels up say about 18-24 inches. Then fill the cylinders with ATF and let it sit a week or so then try a 12 volt battery and short fast taps on the starter button and see if it pops free. The problem on the 2 cylinder JD tractor is that you can not fill the cylinder up to the point the ATF gets to the top of the piston so then you have that area that holds out. So by jacking it up the ATF covers the whole piston and then has a better chance of leaking down and around so it frees it up

In addition to the ATF you might want to build a spark plug adapter with shutoff valve so you can pressurize the cylinders with an air hose and then use the cutoff valve to hold the pressure against the cylinder and also put pressure on the ATF to free up the rust and get to the rings. I would try to pressurize to about 125 psi which should not do any damage to any components. Put the tractor in neutral and disengage the clutch and wait for the cylinder to free up. If you don't want to go through the trouble of building the adapter you might as well pull the block as you will have to clean up the cylinders, walls, heads, bearings, and check for cracks in the block. I found you are a lot further ahead to just pull it apart. Check everything out and then you know what you are working with... I set my last block on saw horses and let it soak in ATF and Diesel for 3 days.. Then took a piece of hardwood and a sledge and drove them out fairly easy....
