John deere 50 carb and intake on a B?

I'm building a 1949 B pulling tractor and have been doing a lot of research on it and was reading about how on some of the later model 50's Deere put on a different carb and intake that ran the cylinders seperately to keep the no. 2 from running lean. This change led to a smoother running engine and a gain in horsepower. And i was wondering if the same thing could be achieved on a B. And also What all would be needed to convert it over to the new carb. Any help would be appreciated.

Smoother running for sure but more HP ? I've had some good running B's !!!! You got to bump up to the 520-530 engine to really notice the power increase.

Like the other poster stated you need a 520-530 to see more power, but to answer your question. You would need a head and manifold off of a 50 to make it all work, assuming you have a late late B.

Not to rain on anybody’s parade but a 50 head will not fit on a late model B block because the 50 has an extra hole in the head for an additional block stud which changed the bolt pattern. The 50 block also will not bolt in the B case due to that bolt pattern is also different than the B. Probably could alter bolt patterns but not a bolt in swap like a 60 and model A. DW

o does anyone know if just the carb would be a direct bolt on to the old manifold just for the newer style and more reliable carb
