ring location on '51 model A

Can someone tell me how far down the top ring land is on a stock piston? I broke a valvespring and valve in my tractor and now have a nice little divot in one cylinder wall from the valve stem. If the ring land isn't located 2" or more down the piston (I doubt it) then I'm in trouble. I just want to make sure before I pull the block out. Thanks

Usually it is pretty easy to tell where the rings stop in those by the wear leaving a ridge.
Maybe run the piston up to the top and then slide a feeler gauge in between the piston and cyl. wall and it should stop against the ring.

I'll give it a shot with the feeler gauge......I can clearly see where the top of the piston stops but there isn't a ridge I can feel with my fingers where the rings stop.
I'm just still clinging to hope that I don't have to pull the block and bore it but I'm afraid that I know the answer. Thanks

Those blocks have a bad tendency to crack inside up top about where the piston stops from the studs pulling them apart.
Also the outside bottoms are thin too.
