Engine interchange in 45 SB combine?

Can the later 180 engine be bolted in place of the earlier 165? Anyone ever tried it? Any thoughts?

I do not know for sure what all would have to be done. I had both combines, 65 model with the 165 and a 69 with the 180 engine. The 180 used a v belt drive while the 165 used the flat belt drive like the 62 & 63 with 145 engines did and those would have been interchangable with the 165, could not see a thing different was just the deck plate and pistons. Biggest problem would probably having to change rest of machine from flat belt to V belt. Myself thought the flat belt was better. If you study the parts books that will tell you what all is different.
