A while back I asked about my 70 not starting and by passed the ballest resistor to make it start. Mine doesnt have the extra wire from the starter to do that when its starting. I checked the voltage going to the coil and it wasnt enough to fire the coil. I had put a old battery in from the 5th wheel, a deep cycle. I put a new battery in, 1000 CCC and it starts on the first roll over. And the old battery wasnt charging much, now it charges great. But the old battery turned it over good, seemed strange to me. Thanks again to all that gave advice on it

Does the coil have 1.5 - 2.0 ohms primary resistance? Or 3-4 ohms primary resistance?
A starter will roll the engine over with 7 through 11 terminal volts. The weak battery with only 7 volts won't spark the plugs. The new battery with 11 volts will spark the plugs while the starter is rolling the engine over TDC.
