Adjusting rear tread width on 4010

I'm having trouble getting the pinion shaft to turn on the rear wheel. I've got the split wedge backed off and the wheel is loose on the axle, but I can't get the pinion bolt to move. It seems to be froze solid! I've tried heat and penetrant and impact wrench.... it hasn't moved.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure this has been addressed here before, but I've tried the search and got nothing.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Use a good squared off punch and drive the pinion shaft out of the hub, clean the rust off with a grinder, lube it and re-install it..it is just a wedge fit into the pinion,,,and a rust fit into the hub...

Thanks again.

I removed the opposite wedge and moved it down the axle to the preferred spot. Noticed that the pinion was either rusted down to where I couldn't see it, or it was missing altogether. Probably the former; also that the hub had a small crack around one of the jackbolts. Started pricing parts and decided to put it back like its been the last 30 years (although on a different spot on the axle). Tightened it back up and will tighten again after a little use. This tractor gets very little use; mostly just trying to get it going again....dad bought it new in 61.

Thanks again for all the help!
