Type of oil used in cream seperator?

My uncle has a cream separator that was handed down to him. He would like to use it but is concerned with what type of oil it should have. It is either a McCormick Deering or IH. I don't know the model. Would some Hy-Trans work just fine? Can you get manuals for them? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Jason

Jason we sold cream when I was a kid. We started out with a De Laval hand crank cream separator and when we switched over to selling milk we were using a McCormick Deering electric separator. If I rember right the oil used in them was a light weight oil. There are some manuals on Ebay but don't know if they are for your model.I don't know if you will want one if you there starting price.

We had the exact same thing, BUT our first was a SL hand crank, and our second was an electric, then the folks ended up with a McC. They used Riley Bros Seperator Oil. I think they are still in business.
