OT Cleaning old Tins

I have collected quite a few old oil tins and was wonderingif any of you had any experience cleaning them up. I do not wantto ruin the org. finish etc. but would like to get all the old oil and grease residue off of them for display purposes. Thank you all in advance.

Mineral spirits would be the least likely to cause any damage. Do NOT use carb cleaner as that will remove the printing.

Here is another thing. I used to rep a sales agent many years ago. There is a product that soaks up oil spills. It is a powder sold in buckets and a tiny bit goes a long way. Made cat litter look like a joke. It is industrial so you may have to hunt around. In the pet store they have Exquisicat litter that is made from corn. Yup the left overs from gas for your car stuff. Very absorbent and smells very earthy. Try that too. Jeffcat
