I have been looking for some sheet metal to make the cover shields that go over the burners on my gas grill. They want $27.00 a piece times three and I am to cheap and stubborn. I found some galv. today but I know when you weld galv. you can get sick from it I always would drink milk after welding. will the heat from the gas grill cause the same problem affecting the food I am thinking I should scrounging.

DO NOT use galvanized metal for that. Welding it or even getting hot will release a deadly gas from it that will make a person very sick of even kill you. Learned that many years ago when I was building docks for a living and ha to weld galvanized stuff from time to time and we would set up big fans so a to make sure the gas would not be a problem

Cut some pieces of light guage 2 inch angle iron to length.

I can never seem to get enough direct heat out of my gas grill- with the top down, it will heat up, but then I have baked steak, which isn't all that good. Can't get enough direct heat to sizzle it.

No.

Home Depot carries them, don't think they are that much?

Stainless sheet probably is, steel plate probably is not, and no on the galvanized.

Thanks for all the responces the price of the ones for most grills are more like three for that price but chargriller charges outrages and the grill isn't an expensive one.Its gas on one side and charcoal on the other. So as I thought no galv.
