Hitch Bolts

I am moving a trailer hitch from one van to another. The manufacturer says not to reuse the hardware, but to buy a new "kit". I don't see paying $40 for 4 - 1/2" x 1 1/2" carriage bolts plus some other hardware that I already have.

What grade of bolt should I use to attach my hitch to my van? Does it need to be grade 8 or would grade 5 be OK?

Thanks

I also would use nothing but GRADE 8 properly torqued and use jam lock nuts to be safe. Betcha the frame would get torn off before the hitch seperated if I bolted it on my way lol
