Modine Hot Dawg Heater not staying lit

I have a Modine Hot Dawg propane heater that is giving me trouble. It kicks on, the igniter glows and when the gas comes on the bottom 2 burners fire but the top (farthest from the igniter) does not light. A few seconds later the gas cuts off and it tries again. How is the flame supposed to get from the bottom burner with the igniter to the top? Has anyone seen this or know anything about it? Thanks Chris
 
I'm not familiar with the igniter on a Hot Dawg, but all electronic igniters have some form of flame sensor. It sounds like yours isn't working, otherwise it would stay on. If it uses optical sensors, it could be as simple as cleaning the lenses of the photocells.
 
I know on the earlier ones there was a snap disc control that is not available and you have to buy about 120.00 worth of parts to switch it to a newer style control board.
 
On our gas grill there is a 3/8 tube with a lot of little holes in one side that caries the flame from one burner to the other. If any drippings get on this tube then the second burner doesn't light. Might be something like that.
 
It spreads just like a grill. Your flame sensor is picking up off the top burner that isn't lighting so it shuts down. Carefully remove the burner tubes so you can get to the orfices. Take them out and clean or replace them.
 
Clean the burners X2. Spiders love propane. The cross over tubes have something in them not letting the gas/flame get to the other burner where the flame sensor is. It is shutting off like it is supposed to with not proving the flame.
