Son came home with this arbor press last night. Buddy of his bought it at a community sale for $5 and now he wanted to sell it for $60. I think it was still a good deal. Anyone have any info about it? I think it might be a 3 ton.

I bought a new one years ago. Kept it for years. Never did use it. I don't think they are much good unless you have the extra tools that go with it. I wouldn't give sixty dollars for it.

I'm wondering if it isn't a specialized one. The base doesn't seem to stick out far enough. Even for a rotating fixture like most have. I have a couple Dake brand arbor presses. You can't beat em for straightening and bushing/bearings. but they definitely have their time and place. Good hand arbor presses used to bring good money used but since the cheap china copies came out the price has dropped. Plus ones with the ratcheting drive handle bring more.

It is a 3 ton press. The front, where the plate should go looks too small or it was cut off. Is there a "ledge" with a 1/2" (or so) hole in the middle? Unless it has that, I would give very much for it. I bought a like new Greenerd # 3 for $40. They do come in handy time to time.

For not much more, you can get a 10 ton or so upright, with hydraulic jack to operate it, which would have much wider usage. As others have said, it looks like that one is missing part of its platform.
