Electrolysis rust removal

Speaking of battery chargers, I use my battery charger and washing soda to clean black pots. Works pretty good. Couple of pictures. DH

That's really cool. How much washing soda per gallon of water, and how long did you leave it on charge?

I use 1/2 cup of arm&hammer washing soda per 5 gallons of water. Can take from one day to three or four days depending on how rusty the pot is. There is a lot of good information on the web about this. You can clean rusty parts, tools and it will not harm the tool or part as long as you hook the item to be cleaned to the negative cable of the charger. I have used this process several years and had good luck with it. DH

I use a yard sale Schumacher charger set on 40 amps at 12 volts. Charge meter shows amp draw between 10 and 15 amps depending on size of pot. You need at least a 10 amp charger. Smaller items would require less in a 5 gallon bucket. I also use a center electrode in a pot to clean inside and outside at the same time.
